Threading is an ancient method of epilation (hair removal) originating in Middle Eastern countries such as India and Egypt. This procedure is done by manipulating a piece of cotton thread through twisting and rolling across the surface of the skin. The thread acts as a coil grabbing all hairs and removing them from it’s follicle. Essentially it is the same as tweezing but allows for a much quicker more precise shaping as it removes lines of hair at a time.
What are the benefits of Threading?
Threading vs. Tweezing/Plucking
Unlike tweezing Threading allows the esthetician a quicker more efficent “error proof” guide to shaping the brow. When you tweeze, hairs are removed one at a time, with threading a straight clean line is removed and everything in its’ path, including peach fuzz, is removed. By manipulation of the Thread the esthetician has complete control over what is being removed, as little as one single hair or a line of hair can be removed allowing for a much more customized clean shaping.
Threading vs. Waxing
The comparison is the same as above with a few additional benefits. Threading is ALL NATURAL. No chemicals are being used during the procedure. With Wax, you are removing the top layer of your skin which allows for extreme redness, bumps, burns or swelling. This makes Threading the preferred method for those who have sensitive skin and dermatologists have approved Threading for those using acne treatments such as Retin-A or Accutane.
